In Cat Ba town, there are currently 4 tourist beaches including: Cat Co 1, Cat Co 2, Cat Co 3, Tung Thu.
Cat Co is one of the famous tourist attractions in Cat Ba town, which is a cluster of Cat Co 1, 2, and 3 beaches. These three beaches are located on the coastline overlooking the Gulf of Tonkin, separating 3 beaches by the mountains.

Cat Co 1 beach is in the middle, two sides are Cat Co 2 and Cat Co 3 beaches. Especially, the walking path on the cliff connecting Cat Co 1 and Cat Co 3 beaches (700 m long) is loved by locals and tourists by walking on high, while admiring the Cat Ba sea and the small islands in front, including Guoc island, Thot island... on good days, you can observe the archipelago where Long Chau lighthouse is located.

The length of each beach is not large, or it is flooded at high tide, Cat Co 1, 2, 3 are preferred by many tourists because of the rich natural landscape, located at the foot of the rocky mountains. These beaches are only a few hundred meters from Cat Ba tourist center.
Cat Ba beach attracts visitors by its cool clear blue water, bright yellow sun, endless sparkling white sands... The sand here is of good quality, naturally accreted by ocean currents. The water quality at Cat Co 1, 2, and 3 beaches is among the best in the system of beaches in the North of Vietnam, due to its direct view to the Gulf of Tonkin, which is much better than the quality of sea water in other resorts.
In the past, tourists often joked that "going to Cat Ba must go to all 3 beaches", implying that going to all three beaches of Cat Co 1, Cat Co 2, and Cat Co 3 to fully enjoy the natural beauty of nature and the environmental cleanliness of Cat Ba tourist area.
Tung Thu beach is known as one of the new tourist beaches in Cat Ba town, in 2018, when the Tung Thu bypass to the center of Cat Ba town was put into use, creating favorable traffic conditions to the beach. Tung Thu beach is one of the longest and widest beaches in Cat Ba town (about 250 m in length), with a high sandy base (due to artificial sand construction) so it is less affected by tides.
