Cat Ba is the tourism center of Cat Hai district and Hai Phong city, in 2019 welcomed over 2.8 million visitors, of which international tourists accounted for 22-24%, increasing steadily over the years. By the end of 2019, tourism, services and commerce accounted for nearly 78% of the economic sectors in Cat Hai district.

Cat Ba archipelago is likened to a cluster of green pearls of the Gulf of Tonkin, where 388 large and small islands gather. This place has long been the choice of many domestic and foreign tourists to visit. Arriving in the center of Cat Ba Town, the first image that impresses domestic and foreign tourists is the welcome gate with the words " Welcome to Cat Ba", expressing the hospitality of the people here. Stopping right at the center of 1/4 Street, the road named after the great festival of Cat Hai district, visitors will feel two distinct differences: On the one hand, there is the noise and bustle of restaurants, hotels, entertainment areas, bars, karaoke. And on one side is the Green Park where there are unique architectural works of art with different forms and the idyllic life of fishermen after working and producing follow the tides.

When coming to Cat Ba, in addition to the choice of entertainment spots, the chain of restaurants serving tourists, including floating restaurants on the bay, will satisfy visitors who want to immerse themselves in the waves of the sea. Coming to Cat Ba, visitors have more choices in culinary culture and specialties here. Cat Ba is considered as the kingdom of seafood, famous for its delicious taste due to the diverse marine environment around the Cat Ba archipelago, rich in coral reefs, abundant food sources, and moderate ocean currents, good environment for the growth of marine species.
If you walk in the evening, you will be overwhelmed by the shimmering lights of the street as well as from the motels, restaurants, hotels, entertainment areas. Especially the night market, where visitors can choose for their relatives a lot of gifts made from pearls, seashells or sea-flavored snail shells.
Every morning when dawn on the sea begins, Cat Ba market is bustling with fish and shrimp transferred from fishing boats, fresh seafood species are naturally found in the Gulf of Tonkin; rich in types and sizes such as: fish, shrimp, crab, crab, surface, clams, oysters, snails .... still alive for visitors to choose, or dry stalls of Cat Ba specialties with bold flavor taste of the sea: One sunny mackerel, one sunny squid, dried squid, dried shrimp, dried fish, fish cake, squid cake…. fish sauce is produced in Cat Hai or Cat Ba islands…with a variety of varieties, dried, packaged and preserved as souvenirs for visitors.
